PAYMENT OPTIONS

We try to make the billing side of our services as easy and straightforward as possible. With that in mind, we’ve partnered with two services that can help.

What does my insurance cover?

Each insurance company has multiple plans. You can have 2 Blue Shield PPO plans where one allows midwifery and the other does not.

Here is a list of pointers and questions to ask when exploring insurance options.

  1. HMO's & EPO's won't allow you to go outside of their network of preferred providers.

  2. Choose a PPO plan with out-of-network coverage/benefits

  3. Some policies don’t allow home birth but if midwifery is a covered benefit, we can work around it.

  4. Cigna pays well but be mindful of the price of the policy, it's not always in your best interest to pay for an expensive plan for 12 months, to get a little more money back for a single event.

  5. Confirm that midwifery with a licensed midwife (L.M.) is a covered benefit.

  6. Confirm that homebirth is a covered benefit.

  7. If #6 is no but #5 is yes, we have options and there's a way to work around that.

For a $40 fee, Earthside Billing can verify the benefits your insurance provides in moments. If you want to skip a long phone call with your insurance company and confirm right away what is covered by your policy, visit EarthsideBilling.com to use their tool.

What are my financing options?

Care at Bloom Waterbirth & Wellness Center requires up front payment, yet insurance payments do not arrive until after the baby is born. To help families bridge that gap, United Medical Credit provides flexible loans to cover some or all of the care cost with options as low as 0% interest for the first year, as well as options for no credit history or lower credit scores.

I still have questions.

If you’d like to discuss this further, please contact us and we will talk through your options.
